Introduction

Hi!
My name is Susie. I am not a doctor or a dietitian or a chef or a fitness expert. I am simply a wife of over 20 years, and a stay-at-home, homeschooling Mom of 6. I am in no way qualified to give medical, fitness, or dietary advice. That said, I do have some ideas for improving my overall health, and I plan to share them here. If you chose to implement some of my ideas or try some of the recipes that I share, you do so at your own risk. Hopefully the biggest side effects will be weightloss, lowered risk of diabetes and heart disease, and increasing your overall health and fitness level. I know I'm willing to take that chance! Always remember to consult your doctor before starting a new diet or exercise program.

Before my youngest daughter was born, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I learned a lot about diet and blood sugar control, and I consulted with dietitians and other health experts. I was able to control the diabetes through diet alone, and no medications. I learned so much during that time, and I plan to use a lot of the strategies that I used then.
This year, I would like to lose 5 or 10 (read that as 20) pounds, decrease my risk of type 2 diabetes, and improve my overall health. My plan is to set small, achievable goals to work into my regular daily routine and habits. I plan to introduce a new goal every two weeks for an entire year. I invite you to join me, if you like. I would love feedback as well as an occasional kick in the butt when I start to stray from the program.
